Ann Weber

From Uncertainty to Confidence: Ann’s Journey

At 74 years old, Ann D. Weber faced a life-changing diagnosis that required immediate surgical intervention. What followed was not just a medical procedure, but a journey of resilience, expert care and renewed joy in everyday life.

“I needed care quickly, and St. Elizabeth was the closest hospital,” recalls Ann. “The people at the hospital were wonderful. The nurses and doctors were very dedicated and really helped me recover.”

Surgical Care with a Personal Touch

Ann underwent her first colostomy surgery at age 74, followed by a second at 76. Throughout both experiences, she was supported by a team she describes as attentive and helpful — especially Dr. John Eldridge, MD, a General Surgeon practicing at St. Elizabeth.

“Dr. Eldridge was so kind and so open about what to expect from my surgery,” says Ann. “He explained everything clearly and made me feel confident that everything would be alright.”

The care team at St. Elizabeth made sure Ann was comfortable and healing well, checking in frequently and addressing her needs with compassion and care.

Adjusting to a New Normal

“Having a colostomy was certainly not something I ever envisioned,” share Ann. “It takes a while to get used to.” But with the help of her nurses and care team, she found the support she needed to adapt.

“They were terrific,” she says. “They deal with this on a regular basis and helped me feel more at ease.”

Now, two years after her first surgery, Ann is back to living her life — from lunches and dinners out to spending cherished time with her grandchildren.

“I enjoy my life again,” she says. “I’m back to my old self.”

At St. Elizabeth, Ann found not only expert surgical care, but a team that treated her with empathy and provided clarity — helping her return to the life she loves.
