When you have a serious illness, addressing all issues causing distress in your life is important. Doing so may prevent small issues from becoming bigger concerns. It may also make it easier to communicate with those providing your care and follow your treatment plan. Physical needs. Treatments for a serious illness may cause a variety of physical symptoms. Pain is what many people fear most, so a key aspect of palliative care is pain control. We also work with you to manage other distressing physical symptoms you might have. Social needs. A serious illness can affect relationships with family, friends, and co-workers. Sometimes, it may even cause you to isolate yourself. Palliative care can help you build or maintain strong bonds and learn how to communicate effectively with those close to you. Spiritual needs. Trying circumstances, such as facing a serious illness, may cause some people to question their faith. We’ll be with you as you seek comfort, meaning and hope through your illness journey.
